Storm Darwin hit the West Cork coast (and the rest of country as well) with a vengeance yesterday. With winds reaching just short of hurricane speeds it was one of the worst storms to reach Ireland in living memory. Bantry Bay was destination of choice for several trawlers as they sought refuge from the wild seas. These photos were taken in and around Bantry pier so what it must have been like out on the high seas couldn't have been anything but terrifying. Here's hoping that that was the last of the big ones.
